Delhi:- Delhi is the capital city of India. Delhi is situated on both sides of the Yamuna river, sharing borders with Uttar Pradesh to the east and Haryana in other directions. It’s a big city with a population of over 20 million people. Delhi has a rich history and has been ruled by many empires, including and Mughals and the British. The city is famous for its street food, shopping markets, and vibrant festivals. 

The city is home to many famous landmarks like :

•    Red Fort – It was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1648. The fort is made of red sandstone, which gives it its name. The Red fort was the main residence of the Mughal emperors for nearly 200 years. It is famous for its beautiful architecture. Every year on 15 august ( India’s Independence Day ), the Prime Minister of India hoists the national flag at the Red fort.

•    Qutub Minar – Qutub Minar is a tall tower in Delhi, India. It’s the tallest brick minaret in the world, standing at 240 ft high. Qutub Minar was built in 1192 by Qutub-ud-Aibak, the founder of the Delhi Sultanate. Qutub Minar is a symbol of Islamic architecture and engineering skills. Today Qutub Minar is surrounded by other historical monuments, like the Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque and Iron Pillar. Today, Qutub Minar is a UNSCO World Heritage Site and a popular tourist destination.

•    India Gate – India Gate is a war memorial in Delhi, India. It’s 42m high and is surrounded by four pillars. India gate is also known as the “All India War Memorial”. It’s a popular tourist destination and a symbol of India’s history and sacrifice. Every year on Republic Day (26 January), the Prime minister of India lays a wreath at India gate to honor the soldiers. The memorial is surrounded by beautiful gardens and a large parade ground.

•    Lotus Temple – The Lotus Temple is a beautiful temple in Delhi, India. It’s shaped like a lotus flower, with 27 petals made of marble. The Lotus Temple is a symbol of peace, love and harmony. It’s a popular tourist destination and a place of worship. The temple is surrounded by beautiful gardens and a large pond.

•    Akshradham Temple – Akshraham temple, also known as Swaminarayan Akshardham, is a hindu temple in Delhi, India. Akshardham means the divine abode of God and is a spiritual and culturel campus dedicated to devotion, learning and harmony.

•    Parliament House – The Parliament house is a building in Delhi, India, where the country’s law are made. The building was designed by British architects ( Sir Edwin Lutyens and sir Herbert baker ) and took 6 years to complete. ( 1921-1927 ) The Parliament house is a symbol of Indian democracy and the country’s rich history. It’s a popular tourist destination and an important place for political discussions and decision-making.

•    Jama Masjid – Jama Masji is a large mosque in Delhi, India. It was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1656. Jama Masjid is one of the largest mosques in India and can hold uo to 25,000 worshippers. Jama Masjid s a significant example of Mughals architecture and Islamic art. It’s a popular tourist destination and an important place of worship for Muslim.

•    Jantar -Mantar – The name “Jantar Mantar” means “instrument for calculation” in Sanskrit. It was built in 1724 by Maharaja Jai Singh of Jaipur. Jantar Mantar is a symbol of ancient India’s scientific progress and democratic spirit. It’s a popular tourist destination and a significant example of Indian culture and architecture.

•    Humayun’s Tomb – Humayun’s Tomb is a magnificent monument in delhi, India, built for Mughal Emperor Humayun. It was commissioned by Humayun’s wif, Empress Bega Begum and designed by Persian architects. It was the first garden-tomb in the Indian subcontinent and was built using red sandstone. The tomb is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tomb is surrounded by a beautiful garden, known as the Charbagh.
