Shangarh-An untouched gem in Sainj Valley,shangarh is a picturesque village located within the Great Himalayan National Park that is a UNESCO World Heritage site.The region has a dense forest cover and is rich in flora and fauna,making it a favourite among trekkers and hikers.It is believed that village was home to the Pandavs.Rolling green pastures are generally found at 3000 m but in shangarh they are found at 2000 m and paint an idyllic picture.The majestic Barshangarh Falls are popular attractions.The exceptional wooden architecture of Shangchul Mahadev Temple ,which is held in high esteem by the villagers,draws many tourists as well.An overnight trek to Jangaon Thatch is highly recommended .If you wish to explore further and havemore tiem at hand,Thini Thatch and pundrik Lake are worth rhe effort.You need a permit to trek here.It is a perfect place fjoe nird watching as there are 131 bird species in the Great Himalayan National Park.30km from here is Raila village that is mesmerizing vantage point to see the entire Sainj Valley.There is a fort and waterfall that you can visit.
